Frappé Away Coffee Slush
J A - Aug. 9, 2024
Author: Layla Osberg
Frappé Away with our recipe for the perfect café-quality coffee slush.
Do you ever get an iced coffee craving on a hot afternoon? This super simple coffee frappé recipe is sweet, strong and a real pick-me-up. With a few pro tricks you’ll be sipping a perfectly blended DIY frappé that hits the spot on the hottest summer days in minutes.
Murchie’s Government Street coffee is the bean type that we use at our espresso bars for our espresso-based beverages. It’s nice and bold to stand up to the addition of ice and sweetened condensed milk for this recipe.
Making a sweet iced coffee mix to keep in the fridge and portion out as needed is a good trick to have up your sleeve when a craving strikes or when guests come over. You will be able to use any sized cup you like and still achieve a perfect slushy frappé consistency. The sweetened condensed milk also helps with the crave-worthy texture and the depth of flavour.
Murchie’s Coffee Frappé
Ingredients
- 1 packet of Murchie’s Government Street fine grind coffee (or 3oz of fine grind Government Street coffee)
- 12 oz water
- 1 tin of sweetened condensed milk
- 12 oz ice cubes
Special EquipmentÂ
- Large heatproof jug or measuring cup
- 1L juice jugÂ
- Immersion blender or regular blender
- Coffee filter
Method:
Sweetened Iced Coffee Mix - Pour 12oz of freshly boiled hot water over one 3oz packet of Murchie’s Government Street fine grind coffee in a heatproof jug or measuring cup. Let the coffee and water steep for 4 minutes. Add 12oz of ice cubes to a jug. Pour the coffee through a filter holder with a paper filter into the jug over the ice cubes. Stir to dissolve the ice. Add one tin of sweetened condensed milk to the cooled coffee and stir. Keep in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Coffee Frappé - Use any size cup you prefer. Add ice cubes to the top of the cup. Pour the sweetened cold coffee mixture over the ice to the top of the cup. Pour the contents of the cup into a blending jug with an immersion blender or a regular blender. Blend until smooth, and pour back into the cup. Enjoy!
