Chai with Pomegranate Molasses
Layla Osberg - Oct. 24, 2023
Welcome to autumn at Murchie’s, a feast for the senses of piping hot beverages, nostalgic making spicy aromas from the kitchen and a little Halloween fun.
Oftentimes, we think we must reinvent the wheel when coming up with fresh new recipe ideas. In our quest for a new spooky recipe, it’s a bit of a relief to be able to share one that’s basically as easy as a cup of tea. While we aspire to be adventurous with new flavours, and indeed the recipe below is, there’s something extremely comforting to know that a humble tea cupboard staple like the tea bag and a trip to the supermarket can create something so wickedly wonderful.
Any Murchie’s tea could be used for this recipe, but since it’s almost Halloween and we’re in the mood for something deeply warming with a creepy twist, we’re using Traditional Chai with a spoonful of pomegranate molasses (it’s as red as blood and sinfully delicious). The end result is a scarily good cider-like tea that tastes like it’s been simmering on the stovetop all day and will have you howling for more.
