Murchie's Christmas Cocktails Recipe

Christmas is coming. In the next few days, we'll see final decorations put up, pantry and fridge stocked, and gift lists ticked offĀ -Ā just donā€™t forget to buy those extra gifts for inevitable surprise visitors and invitations! After all, thereā€™s no guest more welcome than one who arrives with a little treat in hand. Think: boxes of Tea Samplers, Tea and Jam sets and tins of Murchieā€™s Shortbread.Ā 

The holidays are finally here, and what could make things merrier than two unique cocktail recipes up your sleeve? Both for whipping up at the end of a busy day and for serving while hosting.

Festive Gin and Tonic

IngredientsĀ 

  • 2 Murchieā€™s Traditional Chai tea bags
  • 1 tablespoon Pomegranate syrup (you can substitute pomegranate syrup with half an oz cranberry or pomegranate juice, just omit the sugar from the recipe)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 ounces Gin
  • Tonic
  • Ice

Or, use Holiday Spice rooibos for a caffeine-free version

InstructionsĀ 

  1. Brew a strong chai in a heatproof measuring cup with 2 tea bags per cup of boiling water for 3-4 minutes. Remove tea bags.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon of pomegranate syrup to the measuring cup and 1 tablespoon of white sugar (or half oz of juice). Stir until dissolved.
  3. Add a few ice cubes to the tea mixture to cool.
  4. In a glass filled with ice, add the gin and tea mix to half full and top up with tonic water.
  5. Garnish with orange peel.

Christmas Cake Cocktail

IngredientsĀ 

  • 1 litre eggnog
  • Ā 2 cups of strong brewed Traditional Chai (or Holiday Spice rooibos for a caffeine-free version)
  • 3 cups brandy

Instructions

Stir all ingredients into a punch bowl or pitcher; cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
