Banana Milk Iced Coffee with Murchie’s Christmas Coffee
Breanne Teranishi - Nov. 28, 2022
Author: Layla Osberg
A mug of hot coffee in the morning is a must, but iced coffee every once in a while can be a real treat. Iced coffee isn’t only for warm weather days; just like a bowl of ice cream, it can be enjoyed all year ‘round! It’s fun trying out new flavour combinations and recipes for iced coffee with ingredients that are already in the kitchen, so we had to try this banana milk iced coffee recipe because who doesn’t have overripe bananas lying around?
Consider this recipe a choose your own adventure—use your favourite Murchie’s coffee (we’re using Murchie’s Christmas Blend Coffee). A combination of super-ripe bananas and milk creates a flavourful base. Customize with different spices and sweeteners like vanilla, maple syrup or honey so it will taste a little different each time you make it.
Banana Milk Iced Coffee
Ingredients:
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup milk (whole, 2% or plant based)
- 1 ripe banana
- ½ tablespoon vanilla
- ¼ cup strong brewed coffee
- Ice cubes
Directions:
Blend water, milk, banana and vanilla in a blender or immersion blender.
Make strong brewed coffee in a stovetop espresso maker, French press or a pour over filter method.
Put ice cubes and banana milk in a nice large glass, and add the coffee (the banana milk can be poured through a fine mesh strainer for a smoother consistency).
*Some delicious additions include:
- Nutmeg
- Cinnamon
- Ginger
- Ground cardamom
- Maple syrup or honey(especially if the bananas aren’t ripe enough
- Using strong brewed tea instead of coffee
