Got a tea sample from my company's Christmas basket. FALL IN LOVE WITH THE FIRST SIP. The maple flavor matched with milk so well. Can't be more Canadian. Definitely my favorite black tea now. Will continue to order.
Posted on 2023-01-02What a delightful tea, wonderful flavour, enjoyed the hint of maple. Can hardly wait for my second order.
Posted on 2021-01-11Soo good, anytime you want a treat! Maple flavour is just perfect! Such a nice tea!
Posted on 2020-06-20I tried this on a visit to Victoria years ago. I loved it, but couldn't bring any home with me at that time. I have since been back to Victoria and discovered then, that I could order Canadian Breakfast Tea online. I've been ordering it ever since (that was 10 years ago). This tea has the same excellent taste as the first time I tried it. Could not start my days without a cup of Canadian now. The smooth oh so slightly sweet taste of maple is pure heaven.
Posted on 2020-04-04I love this tea, no matter the time. Breakfast, lunch, after dinner, this tea is wonderful. Perfect for a rainy day.
Posted on 2019-12-31This tea is a twist on a classic breakfast cup. The hint of maple adds a nice touch but it definitely has the bite of tannins from a rich black tea. I wouldn't call this tea "smooth" because of this but I don't mean it as a criticism. I feel like it would be a great tea to juxtapose something sweet like pancakes with syrup or a cake at teatime.
Posted on 2018-07-17I have been in love with this tea for a couple years now. I order the biggest bag Murchie's sells, as I do not like to think about running out! It is strong enough to be my morning tea without having the smokiness of Scottish breakfast. (BTW, if you like Scottish breakfast, I highly recommend trying the Editor's Blend.) The hint of maple is lovely without being overpowering or sweet. I like it with a little milk.
Posted on 2018-04-21Received this wonderful flavored tea as a gift. I was not a tea drinker but the Canadian Breakfast has changed my drinking habits. Now, I must place an order.
Posted on 2016-09-24Be prepared for the unusual fragrance and taste of this tea. It is not like the many variations of English Breakfast or Irish Breakfast tea you may have tried. The hint of maple gives it a unique character.
Posted on 2015-11-23I am not a tea or coffee drinker and this is the ONLY tea that I drink. I especially enjoy it with high tea. If you're a Canadian, breakfast tea drinker this might be for you. It's stronger than English breakfast and more flavourful than Irish breakfast, but not as strong as Scottish breakfast. It must be the maple that makes it so perfect for Canadians (or wannabe Canadians). It's great with a little milk and sugar and something sweet.
Posted on 2015-11-23Canadian Breakfast is one of my happy-place teas, and I know I'm not the only Murchie's staff member to say so. It is a rich, full-bodied blend of black teas with just a hint of sweet maple - I love to brew it strong and add milk. On a cold, dark (rainy!) morning, this tea will get me out of bed and on my way.

Tea and coffee tasting is a very individual, multi-dimensional experience: one person’s perfect cup can be too strong or weak, too brisk or watery for the next person. At Murchie’s, we believe that the best tea or coffee is the one that YOU like the best! We use the following flavour profile guides to help compare our teas and coffees within a relative scale.
This rating method indicates the strength of flavour each tea has when brewed according to our brewing guide.

We rate the flavour properties of our coffees along two dimensions: roast and body.
Roast is simply a result of how long and how hot the beans have been roasted, which can be seen in the colour of the finished bean, and typically results in general flavour traits:
Light Roast | More acidity, brightness and a slight pucker
Medium Roast | Slightly richer flavours, some acidity, enhanced creaminess
Dark Roast | Distinctive roasted flavour, sometimes notes of toasted sugar or charcoal |
Body is the term used to describe how the brewed coffee feels in your mouth:
Light Body | Easy to drink with little lingering flavour, ‘thin’ or ‘clean’ feeling on the palate
Medium Body | Heavier, creamier mouth-feel with more lingering flavour
Full Body | Rich, full-mouth feeling: hits all of the palate and lingers |
Different types of teas should be brewed according to certain times and water temperatures to bring out their best flavours. Use this guide as a starting point, and then experiment until you find the perfect brewing method for your favourite tea.
Based on approximately one level teaspoon (2.5g) of loose tea or one tea bag per 6-8 ounce (180-240ml) cup. For stronger flavour, add more tea. Brewing for longer may increase the strength of the tea, but will likely also cause bitterness.

The simplest methods for brewing coffee are drip coffee, pour over and French press. These guidelines are a starting point; modify the ratio of coffee to water, the grind, and brewing time to your taste. If your coffee is not strong enough, increase the proportion of coffee per cup of water, grind the beans finer, or allow them to brew longer – or any combination of these factors. If your coffee is too strong, simply do the opposite.
Drip coffee or pour over method: hot water is gradually poured over coffee grounds and slowly drips through
