Originally blended and launched to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday in 2017, Canada 150 Blend has become a favourite with our fans. Enjoy this tea on your own, or give the gift of a great Canadian moment!
This blend deliberately weaves together several teas from different origins into a strong, malty, sweet whole. Following our tradition of green-blacks, the addition of gunpowder and oolong enhance this tea with smoky, savoury, toasty notes. The finishing touch is a dash of maple flavouring for a gently sweet, creamy finish.

I'm from Washington State, USA and I absolutely love this tea. I am a huge tea snob and this is one of my favorites. So so good.

this blend of tea was my gateway to becoming a Murchies tea addict. I now have 8 different tea tins of favourites from this company, but Canada 150 is an absolute gem. perfectly crafted blend of teas that is balanced with a subtle maple sweetness; this tea remains my favourite closely followed by Russian Caravan (smoked black tea).

For health reasons my doctor recommended green or oolong teas. Couldn't go that route without some black tea. I have had Canadian Breakfast tea so I thought I might like this. Now I'm just disappointed because there is no loose. Had to buy three boxes of teabags. The taste of maple in this tea is wonderful. This is my favorite tea.

I bought a box of 10 teabags to try when placing an order of other teas thinking I might not like maple syrup in my tea. I live in the Houston area of Texas and don't even use much maple syrup at all. But, I really, really liked this tea, so the second order was for a lot more. The blend is very nice and the syrup adds a slight sweetness that is a very nice touch. Murchie's never lets you down. Try it! Even Texans find this a great favorite in the afternoons.

Black tea is the predominant taste I have here with a lingering hint of green tea the smokey and woody notes from the oolong. You definitely get a whiff and subtle taste of maple. Steeped this tea for 3 minutes with water temperature at 200F and it is just right ... what a delicious cup of tea and tastefully appropriate for Canada’s 150

I live in Oregon and received a box of these tea bags during a visit to Victoria a year ago. It was the best tea I've ever tasted. I searched for it on line and they only had loose tea left. My next trip to Victoria I forgot until the last day to go check the Murchie's store for it, but it was a holiday and they were closed. I am soooo excited to see they decided to bring this back as a regular item. Thank you

Love this tea! It's my favorite flavor from Murchies. I wish they would return to selling it in tea bags. I don't mind the loose but bags are my preference.

This is a delicious and delightful cup of tea! A friend shared a cup with me and although I am usually not much of a tea drinker I truly enjoyed this tea. The hint of maple is just enough to make you want another cup. Truly Canadian and enjoyable!

My Grandmother gave me a box as part of a gift although I normally stick to Rooibos and Honeybush. This was actually fabulous. After adding vanilla almond milk it tasted like I had a warm maple tinted London fog in my hands. The maple is a sweet surprise. Great for guests and after dinner. I'm on here to buy more :)

Steeping the Best (Guide)
Different types of teas should be steeped according to certain times and water temperatures to bring out their best flavours. Use this guide as a starting point, and then experiment until you find the perfect brewing method for your favourite tea.
Based on approximately one level teaspoon (2.5 g) of loose tea or one tea bag per 6-8 ounce (180-240 mL) cup. For stronger flavour, add more tea. Brewing for longer may increase the strength of the tea, but will likely also cause bitterness.
Tea Bags vs. Loose Tea
While our tea bags and loose tea are crafted to match the same flavour profile, there are discernable effects between the two formats. Namely, the leaves inside tea bags is milled, making it much finer and a quicker brew, while loose tea can take a couple minutes longer to steep. Tea bags are very convenient, but loose tea can be more visually appealing and brewed with a reusable infuser.
- Tea bags: steep for 3 - 4 minutes
- Loose tea: steep for 4 - 5 minutes
General Steeping Temperatures
The table included here shows some general guidelines for steeping different kinds of tea. Be mindful that some teas, even two from the same category, will brew differently than others. In particular, our green-black blends will often have different ratios of green and black teas - the more green-leaning ones should be brewed at a lower temperature range. Experimentation is highly encouraged, as tea is very much a matter of personal taste.
Puerh and oolong teas are often steeped multiple times for a shorter period of time in smaller brewing vessels. This method creates a curious exploration of the tea as it unfurls, developing new flavours with each subsequent brew - often making for great social conversation.
If you're unsure, try steeping in the middle range for your tea type. If the result is too bitter, steep at a lower temperature or for a shorter time. If the result is flat, try a higher temperature.
