Best breakfast tea Review by Diana
This was a surprising tea, that has fast become my favourite go-to tea in the morning. It smells amazing, and the little bit of maple flavouring give it the right touch of sweetness, without the need for any added sugar. I take mine with a bit of non-dairy creamer. It seems to make it's way into my cart every time I place an order :)

My husband and I both love Canadian Breakfast so much, we drink it daily summer and winter. It has supplanted all other breakfast teas in our hearts! And if we're making a large pot so as to enjoy multiple cups, it's usually this tea. The maple note is mild, but it definitely adds something extra special to the already-delicious Ceylon/Keemun blend. I used to avoid flavoured teas as I'd tried so many that tasted artificial. Murchies knows how to do it right. This tea is one of the best, and there's a reason it's one of the few that you can buy in boxes of 100. It's that good and that well loved.

Got a tea sample from my company's Christmas basket. FALL IN LOVE WITH THE FIRST SIP. The maple flavor matched with milk so well. Can't be more Canadian. Definitely my favorite black tea now. Will continue to order.

The Canadian Breakfast blend has become my new favorite afternoon tea. Since I normally do not enjoy any "flavored" tea at all, the maple is so subtle that it compliments the black teas and in no way comes forward when enjoying my cuppa. I'm glad I sampled this one.

After tasting this delicious blend, I can't last a day without having a "ME" tea time! It's so refreshing and I felt so privileged drinking the best of the best premium tea. Thank you for what you offer.

I tried this on a visit to Victoria years ago. I loved it, but couldn't bring any home with me at that time. I have since been back to Victoria and discovered then, that I could order Canadian Breakfast Tea online. I've been ordering it ever since (that was 10 years ago). This tea has the same excellent taste as the first time I tried it. Could not start my days without a cup of Canadian now. The smooth oh so slightly sweet taste of maple is pure heaven.

I love this tea, no matter the time. Breakfast, lunch, after dinner, this tea is wonderful. Perfect for a rainy day.

Sorry Murchie's. I love maple syrup, and I love all your other teas, but the two really don't go together. It just tastes like drinking hot, watery maple syrup.

This tea is a twist on a classic breakfast cup. The hint of maple adds a nice touch but it definitely has the bite of tannins from a rich black tea. I wouldn't call this tea "smooth" because of this but I don't mean it as a criticism. I feel like it would be a great tea to juxtapose something sweet like pancakes with syrup or a cake at teatime.

I have been in love with this tea for a couple years now. I order the biggest bag Murchie's sells, as I do not like to think about running out! It is strong enough to be my morning tea without having the smokiness of Scottish breakfast. (BTW, if you like Scottish breakfast, I highly recommend trying the Editor's Blend.) The hint of maple is lovely without being overpowering or sweet. I like it with a little milk.

I'm not a fan of flavoured black teas, other than Earl Grey & such but I tried the Canadian Breakfast blend for the first time this morning and I'm pleasantly surprised. No artificial odd taste, not too sweet ... just a subtle hint of maple ... perfect for a rainy/snowy Canadian day!

Received this wonderful flavored tea as a gift. I was not a tea drinker but the Canadian Breakfast has changed my drinking habits. Now, I must place an order.

Canadian Breakfast is a wonderful morning tea, especially on a cold winter day! The hint of maple add to a beautiful blend. I love this tea and it's great that it is now available in 100 bag boxes. Cheers!
Posted on 2016-05-28I LOVE this tea! Review by Susan
I am a long time Murchies fan and think your teas are the best that you can buy. I was in Victoria recently and bought a small package of Canadian Breakfast. I am not a fan of sweet flavors so I was not sure I would like it. It is fabulous! The tea itself is lovely and balanced and strong enough for a good breakfast tea. The maple flavor is in perfect balance with the flavor of the tea and instead of being really sweet, you just taste the maple flavor with a hint of sweetness. I also bought a box of the decaf and it is equally good which is unusual for a decaf. The aroma is lovely too. PLEASE make this a permanent addition to your line. I am ordering more today!
Posted on 2015-11-23A caution - this is not like other 'breakfast' teas Review by Boyd
Be prepared for the unusual fragrance and taste of this tea. It is not like the many variations of English Breakfast or Irish Breakfast tea you may have tried. The hint of maple gives it a unique character.
Posted on 2015-11-23So British, but so Canadian! Review by Not a great tea lover
I am not a tea or coffee drinker and this is the ONLY tea that I drink. I especially enjoy it with high tea. If you're a Canadian, breakfast tea drinker this might be for you. It's stronger than English breakfast and more flavourful than Irish breakfast, but not as strong as Scottish breakfast. It must be the maple that makes it so perfect for Canadians (or wannabe Canadians). It's great with a little milk and sugar and something sweet.
Posted on 2015-11-23Worth Getting Up For Review by Sarah - Murchie's Team Member
Canadian Breakfast is one of my happy-place teas, and I know I'm not the only Murchie's staff member to say so. It is a rich, full-bodied blend of black teas with just a hint of sweet maple - I love to brew it strong and add milk. On a cold, dark (rainy!) morning, this tea will get me out of bed and on my way.
Posted on 2015-11-23Welcome Discovery Review by Cindi
I ordered a sample box (10 bags) of Canadian Breakfast tea to see how I liked it. I was pleased to find that it is a delicious tea. The maple flavor makes it a special cup to drink, but it is balanced with a nice, smooth black tea so the maple flavor is enhancing the tea, not overpowering it. A great cup to have if you are having bacon for breakfast! I will certainly be ordering more of this one!

Steeping the Best (Guide)
Different types of teas should be steeped according to certain times and water temperatures to bring out their best flavours. Use this guide as a starting point, and then experiment until you find the perfect brewing method for your favourite tea.
Based on approximately one level teaspoon (2.5 g) of loose tea or one tea bag per 6-8 ounce (180-240 mL) cup. For stronger flavour, add more tea. Brewing for longer may increase the strength of the tea, but will likely also cause bitterness.
Tea Bags vs. Loose Tea
While our tea bags and loose tea are crafted to match the same flavour profile, there are discernable effects between the two formats. Namely, the leaves inside tea bags is milled, making it much finer and a quicker brew, while loose tea can take a couple minutes longer to steep. Tea bags are very convenient, but loose tea can be more visually appealing and brewed with a reusable infuser.
- Tea bags: steep for 3 - 4 minutes
- Loose tea: steep for 4 - 5 minutes
General Steeping Temperatures
The table included here shows some general guidelines for steeping different kinds of tea. Be mindful that some teas, even two from the same category, will brew differently than others. In particular, our green-black blends will often have different ratios of green and black teas - the more green-leaning ones should be brewed at a lower temperature range. Experimentation is highly encouraged, as tea is very much a matter of personal taste.
Puerh and oolong teas are often steeped multiple times for a shorter period of time in smaller brewing vessels. This method creates a curious exploration of the tea as it unfurls, developing new flavours with each subsequent brew - often making for great social conversation.
If you're unsure, try steeping in the middle range for your tea type. If the result is too bitter, steep at a lower temperature or for a shorter time. If the result is flat, try a higher temperature.
