PRINCE CHARLES BLEND
STRONGA long-time fan favourite, originally blended in 1981 to commemorate the Royal Wedding of Charles and Diana. It is a unique blend of Ceylon, Darjeeling, Keemun and Assam black teas that results in a very strong, flavourful cup!

Originally blended in 1981 to commemorate the Royal Wedding of Charles and Diana, this blend is regal in its strength and depth of flavour. A touch smoky and astringent, the infusion is beautifully robust and dark.

Great breakfast tea Review by TC
Highly recommend this tea as a breakfast alternative to English Breakfast Tea. A little different than English Breakfast, almost floral tea that has quite a range of pleasant and unique flavors with different steeping times. Originally I steeped it for 5 minutes, but for my taste buds it really shines at 7 minutes. It is good on its own or with a splash of milk.

This is a lovely tea. I can't believe how smooth it is. Very relaxing. I only purchased a small amount to try but now wish I bought more. I will be buying this again.

This is my favorite tea, lovely flavor, dark and delicious. Wondering if you will change the name to King Charles Blend? Whatever its name, it is the best.

Delicious. I have it every afternoon when I arrive home from work. It is the second highlight of my day, after the cup of Murchies tippy golden Assam every morning. Such a treat. Thank you BTW is there going to be a King Charles III blend?

When I drink this, I'm transported to England (Sorry, Canada). There is no better blend.

I first was introduced to Murchie's strawberry black tea, then I tried this Prince Charles, it's been my go-to daily tea for years now. Simply delicious flavour.

Have been using this as my go to tea for many years, I drink it black, make it in the morning in my large thermos and drink it all day long pouring it into my travel mug, This lovely tea does not get bitter when left to brew in my thermos. My Stanley thermos keeps my tea hot for 24 hours and it is as good as it was first brewed with no bitter taste.

Discovered this one in the Royal Collection boxed set, and proceeded to use it all up first (though the boxed set has many other wonderful teas as well). Smoky, deep and delicious. Really a great cup.

I have been drinking Prince Charles for 6 years, and though I also drink other teas as well, this is my favorite "go to" tea when I want a stong, flavorfull "cuppa". I never allow myself to run out of Prince Charles!

This is my absolute favorite black tea. Nice rich, strong black blends flavor. I only happen to fall in love with tea, for purchasing the collective tin. I still use it and just refilled it on my last trip to Victoria.

This has been my favorite tea ever since I first tried it in 1997. I have tried a lot of different teas over the years but this one always wins hands down.

I like Prince Charles blend over the 30 teas I have tried. Good anytime if day, with or without lemon, or honey, or milk. And it makes a good iced tea.

I first discovered Murchie's in my honeymoon in B.C. I fell in love with the store in Victoria. Since I'm an avid Assam fan, one of the employees recommended I tried this one. Oh, she was so right! Strong, aromatic, bold... delicious.

If money were no object the Murchie's Assam Superior would probably be the only strong black tea to touch my lips. Fortunately for us common folk there is this amazing blend! The fragrance alone enlivens the senses and the malty yet sweet taste is perfectly balanced. This tea is my everyday go-to pick-me-up! The best black tea blend (at an affordable price)!

Thought the tea might be overly aromatic but surprisingly it was fresh and very refreshing. A real pick me up. We take it with a little milk and no sugar and it makes over teas seem overly heavy. This tea is not weak nor too bitter. Very satisfying blend.

I have tried many black tea blends over the years, until I found Murchie's 12 years ago and fell in love with the Prince Charles Blend. Now, I start every day where ever I am in the world with my favourite tea.

This is my all time favorite tea. I got hooked on it on a class field trip and 13 years later it is still my favorite worth the drive from Seattle and we have good tea here but nobody can beat this one :)!

I have tried a wide variety of black teas from Murchie's over the years. I have bought this blend since it first came out and it has remained my favourite for a strong, subtle, flavourful black tea. My US family is hooked as well. And the price is right.

In reality I like most black tea's, and a lot of Murchie's Royal Teas (eg. Diamond and Golden Jubliee) are fantastic and are some of my favorites! After trying them all however I have found my new favorite in the Prince Charles. Not overly smokey but still strong and flavorful. A worthwhile tea to try for all black tea lovers!

Steeping the Best (Guide)
Different types of teas should be steeped according to certain times and water temperatures to bring out their best flavours. Use this guide as a starting point, and then experiment until you find the perfect brewing method for your favourite tea.
Based on approximately one level teaspoon (2.5 g) of loose tea or one tea bag per 6-8 ounce (180-240 mL) cup. For stronger flavour, add more tea. Brewing for longer may increase the strength of the tea, but will likely also cause bitterness.
Tea Bags vs. Loose Tea
While our tea bags and loose tea are crafted to match the same flavour profile, there are discernable effects between the two formats. Namely, the leaves inside tea bags is milled, making it much finer and a quicker brew, while loose tea can take a couple minutes longer to steep. Tea bags are very convenient, but loose tea can be more visually appealing and brewed with a reusable infuser.
- Tea bags: steep for 3 - 4 minutes
- Loose tea: steep for 4 - 5 minutes
General Steeping Temperatures
The table included here shows some general guidelines for steeping different kinds of tea. Be mindful that some teas, even two from the same category, will brew differently than others. In particular, our green-black blends will often have different ratios of green and black teas - the more green-leaning ones should be brewed at a lower temperature range. Experimentation is highly encouraged, as tea is very much a matter of personal taste.
Puerh and oolong teas are often steeped multiple times for a shorter period of time in smaller brewing vessels. This method creates a curious exploration of the tea as it unfurls, developing new flavours with each subsequent brew - often making for great social conversation.
If you're unsure, try steeping in the middle range for your tea type. If the result is too bitter, steep at a lower temperature or for a shorter time. If the result is flat, try a higher temperature.
