CBC Radio Blend is my entertaining tea when I want to treat my friends with a special dessert this tea compliments cakes, pies, scones & biscuits of any flavor. I steep for a full 15 minutes in my best China teapot and it never fails to impress. Everyone asks where they can order it from.

The very best way to stare back into a bleak rainy Vancouver winter afternoon is with a cup of freshly brewed CBC blend. I've been drinking it since 1996! At the office or at home, great stuff.

This is another blend I've been enjoying in tea bag form: each bag makes a great mild, (but not weak!), cup or two of tea. I like this blend whenever I want something light yet still flavorful. It's good by itself, and I also like it with cakes of all sorts.

This is my favourite pick-me-up. It has a delicate flavour -- don't over-steep it -- and that first whiff of jasmine as you go take you first sip is intoxicating. It is lovely by itself but doesn't really have the body to complement cookies or cake or a meal. My favourite time for this lovely break is in the evening during reading or TV or music -- it gives me a lovely pause before finishing my day and heading to bed. Delicately civilized and a Murchie's exclusive.

This Tea is my wife's favourite. It's light and refreshing. The lemon comes off subtle with a hint of orange. Great in the afternoon or when you are sitting around the table chatting with family or friends.

This is one of my favorites. I was curious about this tea because of the name, being an avid listener of CBC radio. I sampled the tea, and it has since become my go-to tea in the morning before school. It is full-bodied, and not so strong that I would get the jitters in the morning. So very delicious!

When I was in college in the 70's I used to drive from Seattle to Vancouver especially to buy Murchie's teas. I now drink a lot of Oolongs as I'm a member of a tea group that practices a Taiwanese tea ceremony. However, the black tea of my dreams is still CBC Radio Blend. I've turned a lot of people on to Murchie's blends if what they want is a consistent, complex cuppa. Thanks for always delivering the Best, Muchie's!

CBC Radio Blend tea is one of the tea blends that got me hooked on Murchie's. As a green-black tea blend it is unique to Murchie's. It's great with or without milk, and has a light lemon / jasmine flavour, but still with the body of a black tea. When drinking with milk, definitely let it steep a little longer (about 4 minutes)!

Steeping the Best (Guide)
Different types of teas should be steeped according to certain times and water temperatures to bring out their best flavours. Use this guide as a starting point, and then experiment until you find the perfect brewing method for your favourite tea.
Based on approximately one level teaspoon (2.5 g) of loose tea or one tea bag per 6-8 ounce (180-240 mL) cup. For stronger flavour, add more tea. Brewing for longer may increase the strength of the tea, but will likely also cause bitterness.
Tea Bags vs. Loose Tea
While our tea bags and loose tea are crafted to match the same flavour profile, there are discernable effects between the two formats. Namely, the leaves inside tea bags is milled, making it much finer and a quicker brew, while loose tea can take a couple minutes longer to steep. Tea bags are very convenient, but loose tea can be more visually appealing and brewed with a reusable infuser.
- Tea bags: steep for 3 - 4 minutes
- Loose tea: steep for 4 - 5 minutes
General Steeping Temperatures
The table included here shows some general guidelines for steeping different kinds of tea. Be mindful that some teas, even two from the same category, will brew differently than others. In particular, our green-black blends will often have different ratios of green and black teas - the more green-leaning ones should be brewed at a lower temperature range. Experimentation is highly encouraged, as tea is very much a matter of personal taste.
Puerh and oolong teas are often steeped multiple times for a shorter period of time in smaller brewing vessels. This method creates a curious exploration of the tea as it unfurls, developing new flavours with each subsequent brew - often making for great social conversation.
If you're unsure, try steeping in the middle range for your tea type. If the result is too bitter, steep at a lower temperature or for a shorter time. If the result is flat, try a higher temperature.
