Murchies is my favorite, special place to visit. I had a lavender tea latte on my last visit and was so impressed that I also purchased lavender tea bags to make the latte at home. A really special treat!

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the lavender tea, but I absolutely love it! It’s hands-down my favourite. It’s relaxing, cozy, tastes amazing, and is my go-to if I want a warm drink that makes me feel happy. I always add a bit of milk and honey since it’s a black tea, but it’s still very good without :)

A recent vacation in Victoria landed me at the Murchies store where I took a chance and bought this tea. I'm home now and drinking it daily. I will definitely be ordering some more as it was delightful in the morning during this Fall season. It has flavor but not overpowering. The quality of the tea has substance. Definitely take a risk and try this tea.

I was quite disappointed in this tea. I particularly wanted a lavender tea and I can't taste it here at all. I noticed it didn't smell at all like lavender when I opened the box, but hoped once it steeped it would be okay. Unfortunately not.

There is absolutely no other tea I've tried as good as this. I live in Las Vegas, NV and thankful I can order this tea online in a 1 pound bag in loose tea form. It has just the right amount of lavender and black tea flavor. You will NOT be disappointed.

I discovered lavender tea in London when Twinnings put out floral special editions, and I was in love. I love earl grey, love bergamot, but lavender just adds that extra fragrance that elevates it all. I brought a box home but it quickly ran out, and was this close to ordering from overseas when I thought I should try what we have here at home. I was not wrong to do some exploring. This tea is fragrant and delicate and hits the right notes; and it's much better, and cheaper, than bagged tea dust from across the ocean. The only thing is Twinnings had more bergamot, which I wish this did. Not a huge loss. Now I'm off to try some teas with rose, jasmine, and orange blossom, to complete the series. Enjoy!

Brews up an aromatic and smooth cup of tea. The lavender makes this cup of tea sooooooo relaxing. Love it. Mini-spa in a cup. Wish I had bought more than the 10 bag sampler box while we were in Victoria.

I bought several boxes of Lavender Tea after treating myself to a Victoria Fog at Murchie's on Government Street. Seeing two tea bags floating in the foam I was afraid it would be strong and bitter (as would have been the case with a London Fog using Earl Gray tea) ... but it was just lovely!! It is a very smooth tea. Back home in Saskatoon I will be making many more London Fogs!!

Steeping the Best (Guide)
Different types of teas should be steeped according to certain times and water temperatures to bring out their best flavours. Use this guide as a starting point, and then experiment until you find the perfect brewing method for your favourite tea.
Based on approximately one level teaspoon (2.5 g) of loose tea or one tea bag per 6-8 ounce (180-240 mL) cup. For stronger flavour, add more tea. Brewing for longer may increase the strength of the tea, but will likely also cause bitterness.
Tea Bags vs. Loose Tea
While our tea bags and loose tea are crafted to match the same flavour profile, there are discernable effects between the two formats. Namely, the leaves inside tea bags is milled, making it much finer and a quicker brew, while loose tea can take a couple minutes longer to steep. Tea bags are very convenient, but loose tea can be more visually appealing and brewed with a reusable infuser.
- Tea bags: steep for 3 - 4 minutes
- Loose tea: steep for 4 - 5 minutes
General Steeping Temperatures
The table included here shows some general guidelines for steeping different kinds of tea. Be mindful that some teas, even two from the same category, will brew differently than others. In particular, our green-black blends will often have different ratios of green and black teas - the more green-leaning ones should be brewed at a lower temperature range. Experimentation is highly encouraged, as tea is very much a matter of personal taste.
Puerh and oolong teas are often steeped multiple times for a shorter period of time in smaller brewing vessels. This method creates a curious exploration of the tea as it unfurls, developing new flavours with each subsequent brew - often making for great social conversation.
If you're unsure, try steeping in the middle range for your tea type. If the result is too bitter, steep at a lower temperature or for a shorter time. If the result is flat, try a higher temperature.
