Longtime Fav Review by Shannon
I hunted for a maple tea for a while after my previous favorite was discontinued by another company. Found this one and based on reviews gave it a try. It is now my go-to for morning tea. Simple and wonderful. Perfectly balanced with sweet and strong, aromatic and satisfying. Other non-tea drinkers in my office now come in regularly to get their fix too. Can't recommend enough.

I've been trying quite a few different black teas; this one is by far my favorite! The scent is wonderfully maple-ish, and the taste has a mild maple flavor, but not at all sweet. I don't care for flavored teas but this one is different - so subtle. There are tiny bits of apple in the loose tea & I am guessing that these are infused with the maple flavor. Still, this tea is not sweet, which is the way I like it. And not only is this tea superb when brewed hot, it is most delicious as an iced tea. I accidentally discovered this when I had a little tea left over and put it in the fridge. When I drank it cold, I was most happy with the result!

Like many reviewers for the Sugar Maple, other than Earl Grey (Love Bergamot), I'm not a fan of flavored teas. This is excellent hot on a cold winter day. I decided to try it as an iced tea. WOW!!!!!!! Refreshing and just the right bit of sweet. Thank you for making this blend!!!!

I absolutely love this tea. My go to Murchies are number 10 and cdc radio blend… but this tea is my favourite for cold days or a sweet breakfast likes crepes. If you’re doing a pot don’t skimp on the tea bags (or loose leaf tea) if you’re trying to make more tea, or a stronger tea, use more bags. Otherwise if you brew it longer, it will be more bitter and you’re going to miss out on the natural sweetness and perfect flavour. I turn my kettle off before it boils and brew for 3 minutes then I do a quick taste test.

This tea is lovely. Hot or cold. It is billed as a fall tea but is is a great summer tea too and has become my new favourite. Just the right amount of flavour and not overdone on sweetness (I dislike sweet tea or coffee). This is fabulous as an iced tea with no additives. Hands down best tea over ice for taking with me on the tractor on a hot day.

I don't usually like flavored teas, but ordered this for Christmas and love it! It's perfect on cold rainy mornings, afternoons and evenings. Will definitely order again!

Usually I love Murchie's teas but I found this tea rather disappointing. The maple flavour tastes overwhelmingly artificial.

Ooooh this tea is so wonderful. I'm usually very careful not to drink flavoured teas, but this one smelled like maple syrup, tasted like clear black tea, and had a wonderful mapel syrup after taste. It tricked my brain into thinking it was sweetened! Highly recommend!

This is a delicious naturally sweet, great with a splash of milk (even dairy free milks taste good with this) tea. It is my favorite tea ever!

I was a bit worried this tea would be 'sweet' but it perfect. Lovely maple flavour but not overdone and nothing chemically or artificial in flavour. Love it. Already ordering more because I do not want to run out.

Another great maple tea from Murchie's (I'll admit to buying 2oz of each I could find: Maple Chai, Canadian Breakfast, Canada 150, and this)! It is a nice twist on a cup of black tea that makes it fun and exciting to drink. Another winner!

I don't usually like caramel-like flavors in my tea so I'm not too sure what inspired me to try this one out. I expected not to like it! But, boy am I grateful I did. The maple flavor is bold yet light, and isn't cloying. This tea is marvelous on its own, and has great breakfast food synergy, begging to be accompanied with eggs and buttery toast or croissants.

At first glance, I thought I'd written the WinnipegFan review because my thoughts are the same. This tea is a perfect, naturally sweet, medium blend that takes well to a splash of milk (essential to my tea!). The maple flavor is like a hint of vanilla and caramel. It's now a staple on my shelf.

If you love maple this is the tea for you. When brewing it smells like someone has made a big plate of pancakes. It's delicious hot or cold,a touch of cream makes for a very decadent cup of tea.

Beautiful aroma and flavour. I add milk and sugar for a sweet dessert tea. I need two tea bags steeped for around 4 minutes for a stronger flavour. Finding one tea bag for 6 oz of hot water is too weak.

This is a very nice tasting tea. As soon as you open the box you get a beautiful aroma of maple. Pleasant and not overwhelming, just right. It's almost desert! I'll be ordering it again.

Love, Love this tea. A flavoured tea that is actually full-bodied. I wish I had bought more. It's almost desert. Thank you

I was overwhelmed by the smell of the maple when I opened the box and was almost turned off. But to my surprise I ended up really liking it! It is very smooth. I usually like my tea plain but saw the review above and tried it with milk and it's good either way. Quite tasty.

This tea is amazing. I was surprised my husband commented how good it smelled and he was right. For once, I was glad he isn't a tea drinker otherwise I'd have to share! Love Maple...10/10

We really enjoy this tea! I am so glad we can buy it over the internet and don't have to go all the way from Alberta to Victoria to get it.

I bought some of this tea in the fall, and it has fast become one of my favorites when I'm looking for something different. It is smooth & sweet, with a hint of maple. It is naturally sweet, so no additional sugar or sweetner is needed. I also drink my tea with milk, so this gives the maple a creaminess all to itself. The maple gives this a uniquely Canadian twist. But you don't have to be a Canuck to enjoy it! This tea is going to become one of Murchie's classics!

I usually find flavored black teas disappointing because the type of tea used isn't the best. This tea doesn't have that problem. There's a definite maple background and no bitterness. I hope it will be available year-round.

I brought 8 oz of this tea back from a trip to Victoria, BC and my college age daughter has claimed it. It's a delicious, sweet tea that reminds me of the fist-size maple sugar candies of my childhood in Ontario. I'm glad to see that Murchies has an online store, because I'll definitely need to buy more of this tea. It's become a mandatory part of my winter afternoons, on the snowy mountains of BC.

This tea is sure to do the trick. The maple flavour actually tastes authentic, but doesn't overpower the cranberry and apple. Highly recommend this after raking up the fall leaves!

Tried out sugar maple today and my only regret is I didn't buy more! Naturally sweet, full flavor.... Might be the best tea I have ever smelt or tasted... 10/10. Thank you!

Steeping the Best (Guide)
Different types of teas should be steeped according to certain times and water temperatures to bring out their best flavours. Use this guide as a starting point, and then experiment until you find the perfect brewing method for your favourite tea.
Based on approximately one level teaspoon (2.5 g) of loose tea or one tea bag per 6-8 ounce (180-240 mL) cup. For stronger flavour, add more tea. Brewing for longer may increase the strength of the tea, but will likely also cause bitterness.
Tea Bags vs. Loose Tea
While our tea bags and loose tea are crafted to match the same flavour profile, there are discernable effects between the two formats. Namely, the leaves inside tea bags is milled, making it much finer and a quicker brew, while loose tea can take a couple minutes longer to steep. Tea bags are very convenient, but loose tea can be more visually appealing and brewed with a reusable infuser.
- Tea bags: steep for 3 - 4 minutes
- Loose tea: steep for 4 - 5 minutes
General Steeping Temperatures
The table included here shows some general guidelines for steeping different kinds of tea. Be mindful that some teas, even two from the same category, will brew differently than others. In particular, our green-black blends will often have different ratios of green and black teas - the more green-leaning ones should be brewed at a lower temperature range. Experimentation is highly encouraged, as tea is very much a matter of personal taste.
Puerh and oolong teas are often steeped multiple times for a shorter period of time in smaller brewing vessels. This method creates a curious exploration of the tea as it unfurls, developing new flavours with each subsequent brew - often making for great social conversation.
If you're unsure, try steeping in the middle range for your tea type. If the result is too bitter, steep at a lower temperature or for a shorter time. If the result is flat, try a higher temperature.
